Salt-N-Pepa's Cheryl James Reveals She Was Pressured to Have an Abortion

Salt-N-Pepa's Cheryl James made a bombshell revelation on the Tamron Hall Show on Tuesday (May 9): she was pressured to have an abortion when she was a young, up-and-coming rapper.

James, who is now 57, said that she was told that if she didn't have an abortion, she would ruin her career. "I was told that if I didn't have an abortion, I would never be able to make it in the music industry," she said. "I was told that I would be blackballed and that no one would want to work with me."

James said that she was scared and didn't know what to do. She eventually decided to have the abortion, but she said that it was a decision that she has regretted ever since.

"I've always regretted having that abortion," she said. "I feel like I robbed myself of a child."

James's story is a reminder of the stigma that still surrounds abortion. Many women who have abortions feel ashamed and isolated, and they may not feel comfortable talking about their experiences.

James's story is also a reminder that abortion is a personal decision, and that no one should be pressured to have an abortion. If you are considering an abortion, it is important to talk to your doctor and to make the decision that is right for you.
